I recently had the blessing of attending a tax seminar. Yes...you read correctly it was a wonderful blessing. Not only was the seminar packed full of information and had very entertaining speakers, but I also had the opportunity to enjoy a mini spiritual retreat for myself. I packed up my bible, a couple of books, my highlighters, pen, journal, and bath bubbles ready for relaxation and to soak up God's word.
Least you think I am some sort of good bible study girl, night #1 was filled with studying for the enrolled agent exam and watching one of my absolute favorite movies "Fried Green Tomatoes." Feeling a bit guilty I set my alarm to rise early enough for some quiet time...well I overslept and barely made it to the first day of the seminar on time. Whew!!!!
Night #2 I was determined to focus on HIM. A little apprehensive since I had never done this before I wondered how this would work out. Will I be bored? Will I really be able to concentrate on The Word and sort out its meaning for my life? Where do I begin? Well I should never doubt the power of God. HE made everything so clear! HE directed me so clearly to the book I needed to start reading..."A Perfect Mess...Why You Don't Have to Worry About Being Good Enough for God" by Lisa Harper. Rave reviews from Max Lucado and Priscilla Evan Shirer how could I go wrong? WOW!!! I highlighted things just from the introduction....now that really gets me excited about reading a book! This book is taking me through a journey of Psalms (one of my favorite books of the bible). Just in reading the introduction and the first chapter God directed me to a place of HOPE and Psalm 62, which was already massively filled with highlighted markings. I was brought to tears just by the working of God to lead me to this book and to place this piece of scripture upon my heart. I can't wait to see what He has in store for me through out the rest of this book. I will keep you posted!
Needless to say I came home with a renewed sense of HOPE and two bags full of goodies I found from the second hand store next to my hotel, which included a video copy of "Fried Green Tomatoes" for $.99 ♥ God is good ♥
Bear with me still not techno savvy to figure out how to click on the picture and it will take you to the video so just click on the link below the picture and figure it out from there...hehehehe
